ESL Go4 Cup #22 Results

3/2/2016

This weekend saw the final ESL Project CARS Go4 Cup for February take place at the iconic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. It was the last chance for our eSports drivers to put some bit points on the board and stake their claim to a place in the February ESL Project CARS Final. Only the top eight drivers on each platform will go through to compete for an additional €450.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is better known as Imola, the former home of the now defunct San Marino Grand Prix. The circuit became infamous in 1994 after the tragic deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna.
The modern-day Imola is a much safer circuit, though it still maintains most of the corners and atmosphere that gave it a legendary reputation amongst racing drivers and fans. It has some spectacular blind corners, challenging elevation change and one of the most enjoyable fast corners in all of racing, with the downhill plunge into Acque Minerali. Our drivers tackled the course in GT4 machinery - the same car class which they have driven throughout February.

As always, drivers were competing for a €150 prize fund - split into three €50 prizes, one for the winner on each platform. At the end of February, the top 8 drivers on each platform will be invited to race in the February Final for an additional prize fund of €450!

The big eSports teams were out in force on PS4 this week. Team Shark Racing, SDL Motorsport, XL Racing, Unity, RSP, VP and GT all fielded multiple drivers in their quest to come out on top.

Despite all of this competition though it was yet another great win for DriverR1 who reaffirmed his place amongst the elite, despite not being a member of a major team. ockerocker jumped back up to the podium with his new team, VP, which has been recruiting some top talent in the build-up to the new Driver Network season, as have many of the other top teams too. It was also a double podium for VP with jralphy coming home third ahead of seasoned competitor CoTiNhO after a close contest.

Your PS4 finalists for February will be:
1. Driver R1
2. CoTiNhO

On PC, three of our top teams battled for victory in Cup 22; SDL Motorsport, BAM and Team Shark Racing. In the end it was former SDL driver, Tuscan who took victory for his new team at BAM, ahead of SDL khaki. No doubt creating some scores to settle in the weeks ahead. It was a double podium for SDL too, with Mangator coming home in third. BAM certainly looks to have come back fighting lately in Project CARS eSports events. It will be fascinating to watch them do battle with SDL and co. throughout 2016. They certainly have the look of potential frontrunners.

Your PC finalists for February will be:
1. BAM Tuscan
2. SDL Mangator
3. SDL khaki
4. SDL Yoohan
5. DyndaS
6. Th3Pr0ph3cy
7. Diego7Adi
8. BAM Anto

The overall top eight drivers on each platform will be contacted directly by ESL to arrange their participation in the February Final.
