ESL Go4 Cup #23 Results

3/7/2016

A new month of ESL Project CARS Esports action is underway, which means new opportunities for the world’s best sim-racers to win some prize money and stake their claim to being known as the fastest Project CARS drivers around.
For March 2016, ESL has kept the GT4 car class, which proved to be extremely popular with the drivers in February. With a little less power, a little less grip and a little more weight than their big brothers, the GT3 cars, the GT4 machines place a lot of emphasis on driver skill. The Aston Martin, BMW, Ford & Ginetta are very closely matched in lap-time so the drivers really need to be smooth and precise to extract the maximum performance. It’s no surprise that this class gave us many new faces on the podium in February, and we expect more of that same competitive action in March as well.

For Cup 23, the drivers returned to New York, USA to take on the challenges of the extremely fast and extremely bumpy Watkins Glen GP circuit. One wrong move on this undulating course and you’ll quickly find yourself making friends with a metal barrier or a concrete wall.

As always, the drivers were competing for a €150 prize fund - split into three €50 prizes, one for the winner on each platform. At the end of March, the top 8 drivers on each platform will be invited to race in the March Final for an additional prize fund of €450!
The next ESL Project CARS open tournament is the Go4 Cup #24 on Sunday March 13 with a €150 prize fund!

Go4 events consist of 4 or 5 weekly cups and a monthly final each month. The Cup Series is free and open to everyone and has €50 waiting for the best player on each platform. The weekly cups take place every Sunday and start at 19:00 CEST. All players earn ranking points to qualify for the Monthly Final where the winners on each platform will receive a €150 bonus!

RESULTS

PlayStation 4
Former Starlux driver, Gturbo took his first GT4 class win this week, bringing team Unity its first victory in a long while. This will give it a big confidence boost ahead of its big plans for the 2016 Driver Network season. The once dominant force known as DriverR1 could only manage second this time around, while team SRT took its first ESL podium with Chuckno33 behind the wheel. It was a very tight battle on PS4 with several top drivers dropping out of the race early, opening up some opportunities which were gladly snapped up by a few less familiar faces, to score some decent points and open their accounts for March.
Xbox One
TX3 was back amongst the big names again this week, thanks to a first ever victory for HunteR on Xbox One. We’re expecting big things from TX3 this year, after they made a great start to Project CARS Esports in early 2015, but trailed off a little as the year progressed. British driver, SDL Lucky followed home in second at Watkins Glen to take his first podium for SDL Motorsport. Meanwhile, after victory last week, BAM driver, P3nNzOiL gT could only manage third this time out, but he is putting together a decent run of podium finishes. The BAM team has also found some superb consistency of late which is helping it to quickly develop a fierce reputation on the Project CARS Esports scene.
PC
Tuscan continued his recent run of form this week with another win for BAM. Since leaving SDL Motorsport to join BAM, Tuscan has been thriving and shows no signs of slowing down. DyndaS did extremely well to get amongst the big Esports team drivers and take a deserved podium in second, while Team Shark Racing also rediscovered some form this week, with a welcome return to the podium for Atho. Atho seems to be enjoying his recent transition from PS4 to PC and has picked up his pace once more to grab some solid points. After his second place Driver Network Championship finish in 2016, Atho will be looking to score some big victories this year, but can anyone beat Tuscan next week?
