Our Esports drivers were back in action this weekend for ESL Project CARS Go4 Cup #27. This week we travelled to Germany and the Hockenheim GP circuit to put the GT4 cars through their paces once more.
The modern Hockenheim track is a very different beast to what came before. The original circuit was a crazy-fast test of bravery thanks to its colossal long straights which were only punctuated by tight chicanes. The current track ditches most of the old layout in favour of a twistier, more technical design which often divides driver opinion. While many fans long for the classic layout, there’s still plenty to enjoy about the sweeping fast corners that make up the second half of the lap at the modern Hockenheimring.

As always, the drivers were competing for a €150 prize fund - split into three €50 prizes, one for the winner on each platform. At the end of April, the top 12 drivers on each platform will be invited to race in the monthly Final for an additional prize fund of €450!
We had some very interesting results this week on PS4, with two privateer drivers on the podium, ahead of the big Esports teams. DriverR1 took home the spoils yet again, proving that even with our recent format change from head-to-head races to 12-car grids, he is still the man to beat. Behind him, the SRT team took its first ESL podium with Mercury in 2nd and DaBomb330 finished in third. Several top Esports drivers were knocked out in the Semi-Final stage of this week’s PS4 Cup, which just goes to show how open and competitive this Series is, especially with the recent switch to 12-car grids. | It was all about the SDL Motorsport vs BAM battles again on Xbox One, with BAM coming out on top thanks to a first ESL win for SanKa, in front of SDL’s Rossi46. It’s beginning to look like BAM will give SDL a seriously big fight across all of the 2016 Project CARS Esports events. Team RZ had an amazing run in this week’s Xbox One Cup too. Not only was r2jz on the podium in third, but the team had four drivers in the top six. A remarkable achievement which will give them plenty of confidence for the future. | The Angels of Death clan launched itself into the PC Esports scene this week with an awesome victory for ph33rz. He passed the experienced BAM Tuscan to take the lead on the final lap. However, there was some controversy, as the game appeared to have awarded Tuscan the victory, despite him crossing the line second. Thanks to video evidence provided by several players, we have confirmed that AOD’s ph33rz definitely did win the race, with Tuscan second. Puffpirat came home behind them in third to take a first ESL podium. |
