The Project CARS Community offers a vast array of multiplayer racing every week: You can find organised leagues in almost every car class and on every platform, run in a professional and friendly manner by dedicated car simulator fans from around the world.

The NXTGEN Racing League has grown quickly to become one of the more popular racing destinations, especially in the UK. This group offers a huge variety of racing series, from GT to historic touring cars. It even runs time-trial events with real-world racing drivers. A superb opportunity for armchair racing fans to test their pace against the very best.

To find out more about this great operation, we sat down with Phil Humpherys, the owner of NXTGEN, plus Armin Tangelder, Stewart Hailstones, and Richard Carter, three of its league admins.

PlayStation Plus League 2016: Congratulations to the Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the first ever Project CARS PlayStation Plus League.

The PlayStation Plus League is France's biggest car simulator competition, open to all Project CARS players on PlayStation 4. After months of hard battles, which began back in late 2015, the final podium has been decided. It's safe to say that there were some familiar faces at the top of the pile.

DriverR1 took home the championship title after many dominant victories. It's proving to be an almost unbelievable year for DriverR1 in 2016. Not only does he have the PS+ title firmly in his grasp, but he has also continued to take win-after-win in the ESL Project CARS series. He hasn't featured in our Logitech or NVIDIA Series, but with so much success elsewhere, it's easy to see why DriverR1 has remained the man to beat in many Project CARS events.

Second place went to Unity BaB, another familiar face in the Project CARS Esports scene, and one of the driving forces behind the growing Unity team. Unity is doing a solid job at the moment in the NVIDIA and Logitech Series, but perhaps BaB's performance here can inspire them to an epic second-half of 2016. The team currently lies sixth in the NVIDIA Challenger Series console standings, and also has lineups in third and sixth in the Logitech G Championship Series.

Third place in first PS+ League championship went to Team Shark Racing's Atho, who also finished as the runner-up in 2015's SMS-R Championship. It's yet another terrific accolade for Atho and his team and we look forward to seeing how they will fare as we approach the final run-in in the NVIDIA and Logitech Series. Atho currently has the lead in the console division of the Logitech G Series, and Shark also leads the team standings. It's a similar story in the NVIDIA Series too, where Shark currently leads the title race, with Atho second in the driver standings, just behind teammate, Yinato.

The second-half of the Project CARS Esports season begins this weekend, as we return from our Summer break with Round 6 of the Logitech G Championship Series: the Ford Fusion Stockcar at Watkins Glen. Enter in-game via the Community Events screen between Friday August 5 - Monday August 8.

Experience the highest level of car simulator competition in Shanghai from July 28 - 31

In the last 18 months, the Project CARS racing game has become an established force and the leader in sim racing Esports across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. This has been driven by a steady stream of regular competitions, like the Logitech G Championship, NVIDIA Challenger Series and weekly ESL tournaments. Not to mention major competitions at live events including Gamescom, Eurogamer Expo, Paris Games Week, Gamergy, Autosport International, and the ESL Benelux Championship.

Following from this success, Project CARS will make its first ever appearance with Intel Extreme Masters at this year’s ChinaJoy event between July 28 and 31.

Ticket holders for IEM Shanghai will have the opportunity to compete in advanced racing simulation motion seats provided by our partners at Vesaro, in a heated competition to find China’s fastest sim racer. Not only that, but this will be China’s first sim racing competition using VR. Each of the Vesaro seats will be equipped with an Oculus Rift headset, for the ultimate in racing game immersion. Competitors will experience what it is really like to compete wheel-to-wheel from inside the cockpit of a professional racing car.

There will be a fresh competition on each day of IEM, so there will be several chances to get your hands on a prize. The fastest time of each day will win an Intel i7 Extreme Processor.

Head on down to ChinaJoy and Intel Extreme Masters Shanghai, to get your first taste of Project CARS Esports competition.

We have reached the halfway point in the 2016 Project CARS Esports season, so it’s time to meet another of the world’s best sim racing teams as they finally have a bit of time to speak to us as we head into  the summer break. This time, we focus on 5Aces eSport, a German outfit which actually features drivers from several European nations. It’s also one of the top PC-focused teams competing in Project CARS.
Picture
The 5Aces lineup includes some of the top drivers from the ESL Project CARS Cup tournaments on the PC platform; USSRxALeXeR, Shamanzombi, IJJaUTaH, Nesterowicz, and Tipple. ALeXeR once dominated the ESL Cups, with weeks and weeks of consecutive wins. Nesterowicz and Tipple will also be familiar to anyone who has watched the Apex Online Racing GT3 Elite League, as both these drivers have been consistent competitors in our Official League there. The 5Aces team currently sits fourth in the NVIDIA Challenger Series team standings on PC.

We spoke to team boss, Aleksandr Agramakov, to uncover the secrets to 5Aces’ success.

Logitech G Championship Series Round 5 Results

Round 5 of the Project CARS Esports Logitech G Championship Series travelled to Belgium’s legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the ultimate racing machines, Formula A.

This Round is also a chance for the leading teams to score some serious bragging rights and take home the title of Logitech G Series Summer Split Champions. While there aren't any prizes at this stage (the big money comes at the end of the year), taking this title on PC on Console puts a serious stake in the ground and gives the other competitors a benchmark to aim at in the Autumn Split after the summer break. We've seen some extremely close battles this season and we expect the second half of the Series will be no different.

The challenge of Spa is familiar to racing fans around the world. At 4.3 miles it is one of the longest Grand Prix circuits in the world, and also one of the most historic, having hosted decades and decades of classic races. We all remember *that* Formula One race in 1998.

In the world of virtual racing, Spa is no less challenging than it is in real-life. The Formula A car is a true test of man and machine. From the flatout uphill climb of Eau Rouge, to the sweeping double-left at Pouhon and the immense bravery required to take Blanchimont flatout at the end of the lap.

The Logitech G Championship Series is also an open-setup Esports competition. This means that our drivers and teams and free to tune the car however they wish. Each team therefore comes up with its own engineering solution for the event, leading to some fascinating results as they each tackle the course in their own way, but still bring phenomenally close results in the end.

Read on to discover which of our teams and drivers will lead the field going into the summer break.
