PSFRacing
With the Project CARS Esports summer break almost upon us, there’s no better time to catch-up with some of our biggest and best teams to find out how they view their 2016 season so far. Today, the spotlight is on PSFRacing, another super-quick French team lighting-up the championship in both the Logitech G Championship Series, and the NVIDIA Challenger Series.
The PSFRacing lineup includes some of the top drivers from various Project CARS Community Leagues; Fab, Edwood, Rafael, Dedexx, and Lulu. All names that you’ll want to keep an eye out for when you’re racing online or competing on our time-trial leaderboards.
Thanks to the efforts of these drivers, PSF currently sits comfortably inside the top 10 teams in the Console Division of the NVIDIA Challenger Series (in eighth place). The team is doing even better in the Open Setup Logitech G Championship Series, where it has really mastered the engineering aspects of the sim, coming up with some fantastic car setups which have propelled it right to the front of the order.
In the LGCS Console Division, Fab is just three points off the lead in second place in the drivers standings, while the team sits fourth on the team leaderboard after the first four rounds of the season.
We spoke to Fab to get his thoughts on PSF’s great start to 2016.
How and when did your team members first become interested in sim racing?
We first became interested by sim racing as kids, because we all played games like Gran Turismo, GTR, and the early Colin McRae titles. More recently, a lot of us have continued to play Gran Turismo, but others also like Codemasters’ DiRT and F1 games and even rFactor.
Why did you enter the 2016 Project CARS championships?
We entered the Project CARS ESports Series because this game is the easiest way to launch a team into the world of competitive sim racing.

How do the drivers prepare for each round of the two Project CARS Esports Series? Does each one require a different approach?
At the beginning of the season, we each train for more than 20 hours before each round in both series. Recently, we have changed our methods, and we are focused on just the one championship, the Logitech G Championship Series, as this is where we have had the most success.
Who tunes the cars for your team in the Logitech G Championship Series? Do the drivers work on setups together?
First of all, we don’t really have anyone in our team that you would call ‘The Boss’. Everyone works together to tune our cars for the benefit of the team.
How do you rate the team's chances of winning a Series in 2016, and what would that mean to you?
We believe that we can finish in the top 5 in the Logitech G Championship Series at the very least. However, we have reduced our efforts in the NVIDIA Series to give us more time to do other things outside of sim racing and gaming in general. Winning a Series would be amazing for a little team like us, to prove that we can beat the bigger and more experienced teams!

French sim racing teams are amongst the fastest drivers in the world right now. What makes pilots from France so damn fast?
We think that can be simply explained by the fact that the French just love sim racing. That passion means that we are more involved in championships than many other countries. Have any of your drivers raced any cars in real life? I’ve driven a Ferrari at a French circuit named Albi, and Lulu had the awesome opportunity to ride in a Radical SR3-RS at Spa. What cars do your team members drive in real life? I drive a BMW coupe, AxD drives a VW Polo, and Dedexx has a Peugeot 206. Many of our other sim drivers don't have a licence yet, but that won’t last forever! |
What is each team member’s favourite car and track to race in Project CARS?
My personal perfect combo is the P30 around pretty much any track. Rafael and Edwood’s favorite car is the McLaren 12C GT3 and they both like the Barcelona GP circuit. AxD's favorite racetrack is Spa, because he comes from Belgium. Lulu's favorite car is the Alpine LMP2 and Azure Circuit is his favorite track. ART has the same tastes than Lulu but he loves the Ginetta GT4. Finally, IKritZz loves the Nordschleife with any GT3 car.
What does the future hold for your team?
We have a dream, and this dream is to create our own real-life racing team. We hope that sim racing will help us to progress to the highest level.
