The Red Bull 5G eSports tournament is coming to the UK. In this unique gaming competition, players will represent their region, battling for the the north or the south of the UK in five great games from five very different genres. Are northerners better at video games than southerners? We’re about to find out.
Originating in Japan, Red Bull 5G is an eSports tournament that anyone can enter. Go to RedBull5G.com, pick the game you want to play from the five different genres, choose which region you want to play for and you can enter the online qualifiers.
Inspired by traditional 5 vs 5 martial arts tournaments, the classic rivalry between east and west, and a growing culture of competitive gaming, Red Bull 5G was created in Japan in 2012. In the first ever tournament, East Team triumphed, winning three rounds as players competed in five games from different game genres.
For Red Bull 5G in the UK, the rivalry will be between the north and the south of Britain as players choose which region they want to play for and then battle in online qualifiers to earn the right to compete in the regional finals in Manchester and London. Get through the regional final and you’ll be part of Team North or Team South, representing your region at the Red Bull 5G final. Win and you’ll get an all-expenses paid trip to Japan, the home of Red Bull 5G.

WHEN CAN I PLAY?

The Red Bull 5G online qualifiers begin during the last week of August. There are four rounds of online qualifiers, and the best players from each one will be invited to a qualifier final in September, where they will compete for a place at the regional finals in October. If you win and are the best player or team from your region, you’ll join Team North or Team South at the Red Bull 5G final in November (dates and venues for the regional finals and the grand final have yet to be confirmed).

The Red Bull 5G final will be streamed live on Twitch. You'll be able to watch highlights from the online qualifiers and the regional finals on RedBull5G.com
