Originating in Japan, Red Bull 5G was an eSports tournament that anyone can enter. Players visited RedBull5G.com, picked the game that they wanted to play from the five different genres, chose which region to play for and you can entered the online qualifiers.
Inspired by traditional 5 vs 5 martial arts tournaments, the classic rivalry between east and west, and a growing culture of competitive gaming, Red Bull 5G was created in Japan in 2012. In the first ever tournament, East Team triumphed, winning three rounds as players competed in five games from different game genres.
For Red Bull 5G in the UK, the rivalry was between the north and the south of Britain as players chose which region they wanted to play for and then battled in online qualifiers to earn the right to compete in the regional finals in Manchester and London. Successful players than became part of Team North or Team South, representing their region at the Red Bull 5G final. The prize was an all-expenses paid trip to Japan, the home of Red Bull 5G.

WHEN CAN I PLAY?
The Red Bull 5G online qualifiers began during the last week of August 2016. There were four rounds of online qualifiers, and the best players from each one was be invited to a qualifier final in September, where they competed for a place at the regional finals in October. The winners joined Team North or Team South at the Red Bull 5G final in November.
