Racing Rules, Regulations, and Expectations
The 2019 Playseat® SMS-R Series, Powered By Events House is a professional racing competition. As such, all drivers are expected to adhere to general rules of good sportsmanship, fair play and respectful conduct. The Adjudication team will punish behaviour that falls outside of these expectations, potentially leading to disqualification from the competition.
Examples of actions that will warrant use of the disciplinary process include, but are not limited to:
Purposely crashing.
Driving slowly, or erratically.
Corner cutting.
Driver substitution – attempting to pass another person off as the qualifying Driver.
Use of exploits, cheats or other game behaviour not originally intended by the developers.
Attempting to gain an unfair advantage through any means.
Vulgar or offensive language – in-game, in any connected forum, or in associated social content.
Attempting to cause disruption or aggravation to other users, drivers or other participants.
Attempting to disrupt the 2019 Playseat® SMS-R Series, Powered By Events House in any way.
Benchmark
In order to prove Drivers are of sufficient standard to compete in this series. Drivers may, at the discretion of the competition organisers, be requested to provide a lap time within 107% of the time trial time set from week 1 of the Challenger series time trial qualification. For Example;
Track: Knockhill - National
Top Time Trial Time: 00:45.500
107% Time: 00:48.150
Once a Driver has set a clean Lap around the track above that is faster than the 107%, that Driver is not required to submit any further benchmark lap times.
Drivers are given 3 attempts in which to set their Lap. If a Driver fails to set a Lap within the allotted slots then that Driver does not get another attempt to qualify (unless deemed appropriate). This time must be set in an identical car, track & game settings as the original time.
Lap times which involved any in-game warnings or penalties (including, but not exclusively, for corner cutting) or involve any game exploit or foul play will be discounted.
Disciplinary Process
Any potential breach of the overall sporting standards set out above, or any other action deemed by the organisers to be worthy of disciplinary action, will be covered by the following process.
First offence: verbal warning and/or application of time penalties.
Second offence: written warning and/or application of time penalties.
Third offence: disqualification and/or application of time penalties.
Serious breaches of the rules, as determined by the Series organisers, may be escalated to any disciplinary level, including disqualification, without warning. The Events House reserves the right to issue a warning or disqualification in any circumstances it deems necessary.
Application of Penalties
Project CARS 2 operates an automatic track boundary monitoring system. During time trial qualification stages, drivers should keep within the track boundaries as set out by the Game to avoid having their time disqualified. However, drivers should also note that any abuse of this system, or conduct falling into the above categories, observed during this stage will result in their time being discounted and disqualification from the Series.
It is recommended that all Drivers keep a recording of their qualifying laps for use by the Adjudication team in the event that their qualifying time is called into question under this provision. Drivers should note that track limits penalties are applied automatically by the Game, and cannot be contested in any way.
During events where drivers are racing against each other, it is important to note that this race series in a non-contact sport. The Events House accepts that under racing conditions sometimes contact is inevitable. However, drivers should be aware that all races will be monitored by a team of adjudication officers.
Drivers may make a complaint about a racing incident after a race. This should be brought to the attention of the Series organisers immediately by email [contact information will be provided soon], who will review any footage of the incident and make a decision as soon as practical as to any response.
Drivers are encouraged to keep a local recording of their Series sessions to help resolve any disputes quickly and fairly, though this is not an absolute requirement.
During the qualification period, the Adjudication team will communicate any penalties applied (outside of the automatic track cutting penalty applied by the Game) to Drivers directly via email. Any repeated breaches, or known bugs or exploits, will be communicated to all participants via an emailed link to the Series website. All participants are encouraged to check the site regularly for updates on these issues to avoid unnecessary confusion. Any racing penalties applied following the Semi Final races will be communicated immediately following the race.
During Live events, the Adjudication team will be available to explain decisions made regarding racing incidents to the Drivers directly. Where appropriate, the Adjudication team may also, at their express decision, hear representations from other Drivers regarding complaints about on-track behaviour.
The decision of the Adjudication team and Series organisers is final, however appeals may be heard. The Series organisers may penalise Drivers for any incident determined to be their responsibility. Where penalties are applied, the Series organisers will only do so when they are confident the driver was wholly or predominantly responsible for the incident.
The general types of penalties are set out below, though this is not an exhaustive list and the Series organisers may apply alternate penalties as they see fit.
The ultimate arbiter of all decisions, rules, regulations and expectations for the Series shall be The Events House. The Events House reserves the right to make decisions in accordance with, outside of or even against these Rules and Regulations in special circumstances to guarantee fair play and to uphold the spirit of The Playseat® SMS-R Winter Championship powered by Events House. All Drivers agree to be bound by The Events House's decisions in these matters. Any and all decisions regarding the interpretation, meaning or definition of these rules, the eligibility requirements or any penalties for misconduct during or outside of Series competitions shall lie with The Events House. The Events House's decisions cannot be appealed, and shall not give rise to any claim for monetary damages, any other legal or equitable remedy, or any form of compensation for damage, loss, liability, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by Drivers as a result of competing in The 2019 Playseat® SMS-R Series, Powered By Events House Esports Series.
Benchmark
In order to prove Drivers are of sufficient standard to compete in this series. Drivers may, at the discretion of the competition organisers, be requested to provide a lap time within 107% of the time trial time set from week 1 of the Challenger series time trial qualification. For Example;
- Addition of time to the race duration (the amount of time to be added will depend on the nature of infraction and type of vehicle being driven).
- Deduction of 5 points from the Series standings.
- Deduction of 10 points from the Series standings.
- Disqualification from the race results.

At no time will a qualifying result be amended, restored or re-considered due to internet connection issues or results not being submitted to the Game servers, even if video evidence is submitted showing successful completion of the event – this is to remove the possibility of tampering, cheating or other exploits.
During the Live Final, if a Driver drops out of the Game prior to the first corner, the race may, at the absolute discretion of the Series organisers, be restarted.
